1996 State of Origin series

New South Wales were able to bounce back from the 3 - 0 whitewash of the 1995 Series and win the 1996 series 3 - 0, reversing the result of the previous year.

Brian Canavan

In 2010 Canavan was appointed to investigate the on-and-off field performances, attitude, behaviour, conduct and setup of the New South Wales State of Origin team following its fifth straight series loss to Queensland.

Chennai Super Kings in 2011

CSK, who then faced the 2009 Champions and NSW Blues in a must-win encounter, was eliminated after a decisive win for the visitors led by David Warner's hundred.


2003 Sydney Roosters season

Nine Roosters players were selected to play in the mid-season 2003 State of Origin series: Craig Fitzgibbon, Craig Wing, Luke Ricketson, Bryan Fletcher and Anthony Minichiello for New South Wales; and Shannon Hegarty, Chris Flannery, Justin Hodges and Michael Crocker for Queensland.

Clem Kennedy

Kennedy also played for both the New South Wales and Australia representative sides and served Australia during the Second World War which saw him serve in the Kokoda Track campaign.

Junior Kiwis

Prior to 2010, the Junior Kiwis consisted of the best New Zealand players aged 18 years or younger and would represent the country against the likes of the Australian Schoolboys, the New South Wales Under 18 side and the England Under 18 side, sometimes as curtain raisers to the senior Kiwi games.

Rugby League War of the Roses

They were revived in 2001 under the name of the Origin Series, inspired by the success of Australia's State of Origin series between New South Wales and Queensland.
