Burnside, Otago

It lay on State Highway 1 until the construction of the Dunedin Southern Motorway in the 1990s, but is now bypassed by traffic from central Dunedin.

Dunedin North

These latter four roads form part of New Zealand's State Highway network, with Castle, Cumberland, and Great King Streets all being part of State Highway 1 (as well as being part of the city's one-way street system), and Anzac Avenue being part of State Highway 88 between Dunedin and Port Chalmers.

Greta River

State Highway 1 follows the river for part of its route between Cheviot and Waipara.

Harewood, New Zealand

SH1 passes through Harewood, and separates the land use.
