In April 1962, during a four day rail tour entitled the Scottish Rambler, the five coach train was hauled on the line by a Gresley J39 No 64786.
Newburgh became a junction station on 25 January 1909, when the Newburgh and North Fife Railway company opened a line from Newburgh to Dundee.
