In the 1983 Newhart episode "A View from the Bench", where Dick Loudon is expelled from Boston Garden's seating section to the tunnel for a Celtics game, where an exhausted player is offered a "cold drink" from Loudon and turns back shouting "Hey, kid" as he tosses Newhart his basketball shoes as a souvenir.
Jerry Winsett (born July 19, 1950) is an actor, writer and singer who has appeared in numerous television shows including Coach, Mr. Belvedere, It’s Garry Shandling's Show and Newhart as well as such films as The Chosen, One Crazy Summer, Ragtime, and Woody Allen’s Radio Days.
Other television appearances included episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, AfterMash, Bosom Buddies, Third Rock from the Sun, Remington Steele, Yes, Dear, Newhart and Gilmore Girls.
On television, he played Zathras on Babylon 5 and had a recurring role on Newhart, as well as appearing in several TV movies, notably Child in the Night (1990), and guesting on shows including The Practice, Diagnosis: Murder and The Bold and the Beautiful.
He later appeared in over eighty different television shows, among them The Donna Reed Show, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Here's Lucy, No Soap, Radio, Newhart and Amen.
