They have neither prevented nor responded to a series of attacks in the territory by the Lord's Resistance Army.
In January and February 2011 the Lord's Resistance Army again attacked people in the territories of Dungu, Faradje, Niangara and Watsa, causing 33,000 people to be displaced.
In May 2010 a group calling itself "The human rights defenders of Niangara" published an appeal to U.S. President Barack Obama to take more effective action against the LRA.
