Nielson was a founding member of the Baltimore Chapter of the American Institute of Architects at its charter in 1870.
Nielson became industrious and fairly successful in the coastal city of Aarhus where he also owned land and livestock.

One of the theories regarding Butch Cassidy and Elzy Lay robbing the Pleasant Valley Coal Company in nearby Castle Gate, is that they stayed in Huntington Creek (Utah) at the ranch of Jens Nielson, where they had been employed under the names Tom Gillis and Bert Fowler, respectively.
Nielson moved to Denmark in 1975, and was appointed pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Rødovre, Denmark, that concluded in 1980.
She has also composed music for two productions by Newcastle's "Live Theatre", presented a series of programmes for "BBC Radio 2" and TV programmes on music composition for Channel 4 Schools, recorded with the Penguin Cafe Orchestra, The Chieftains, Beth Nielson Chapman, The Boys of the Lough, Jimmy Nail, Linda Thompson, Alan Parsons, Andy Sheppard and many others.
Thousands of people have heard it, clothed with the harmonizing which our ears demand; it is lying upon music Tables all over the land, has been sung by many of the world's famous singers, including Schuman-Heink, Julia Culp and Alice Nielson.
