In 2004 the band were signed to Island records and spent the year touring the UK and recording their first studio album with producer Rob Schnapf in Los Angeles.

During February 2006 Nine Black Alps set off for a final 'Everything Is' UK tour with their Manchester friends The Longcut as support.

The band have reportedly written their fourth album which is due out later this year and started demoing the new material as a 3 piece in early May in the West Yorkshire village of Linthwaite.

The band consists of Sam Forrest (vocals, guitar), David Jones (guitar), James Galley (drums) and Karl Astbury (bass).
"Shot Down" was the first single released by Manchester band Nine Black Alps.

They recorded with the record producer Mark Williams (Biffy Clyro, Bloc Party, Fightstar, Nine Black Alps, Million Dead, Ghymp) at the Battery Studios in London and they toured with Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Hot Club De Paris and The Rumble Strips, as well as also playing with bands including The Futureheads, Melt Banana, The Young Knives, Make Believe and Foals.
Within the band's first year, they had performed 154 shows, played music festivals in Spain and supported Nine Black Alps and Babyshambles.
The Sorry Kisses are a rock band formed in 2006 around the core duo of singer-songwriter Hayley Hutchinson and Sam Forrest of Nine Black Alps.
