On the 6th of October 2009 NISMO announced entry into the UK market with official partner Middlehurst Motorsport.

Nismo made the decision to make the engine a 2.6L twin turbo, and compete in the 4500 cc class, resulting in the RB26DETT known today.
A flat-plane crankshaft version of the VK45DE was used by Nismo for Super GT races with the Nissan GT-R instead of using the GT-R's VR38DETT twin-turbo V6 engine.
A modified version of the VQ35DE, called the S1, is produced by Nismo (Nissan's motorsports and performance division) for the Fairlady Z S-Tune GT.
It was developed for competition racing during the early 1990s by Nissan's motorsport division Nismo.
