Jean-François-Maurice-Arnauld, Baron Dudevant, better known as Maurice Sand (June 30, 1823 in Paris – September 4, 1889 in Nohant-Vic), was a French illustrator and writer.
Today the museum contains Delacroix's memorabilia and works, exhibiting pictures from nearly every phase of his career, including the artist's only three attempts at fresco from Valmont (1834); the Education of the Virgin painted in Nohant in 1842; and Magdalene in the Desert exhibited at the 1845 Salon.
Just to the south of La Châtre, some twelve kilometres south of Vic, the Variscan-faulted rocks of the Massif Central begin with Cambrian/Ordovician migmatite.

Their study has led to comparison with those of Saint Martin de Vicq (Nohant-Vicq, Indre, central France) from the second half of the twelfth century, in which has been found not so much a certain interdependence but the use of common, possibly Carolingian European models.
