In 1606 he was appointed Keeper of the Great Park, a park created for hunting by Henry VIII around Nonsuch Palace, of which Worcester Park was a part.
It was within one of these towers that the premiere of Thomas Tallis' masterwork, Spem in alium, was perhaps performed.
These may relate to the only large-scale Mannerist project in England, then nearing completion, Nonsuch Palace in Surrey.
