Louis Palander

After several other appointments at sea, Louis Palander participated in Nordenskiölds expedition to Spitsbergen in 1868, on board the steamer Sofia (the ship's captain was baron Fredrik von Otter).

Adolf Arnold Louis Palander af Vega (October 2, 1842 – August 7, 1920) was a Swedish naval officer, mostly remembered as the captain on Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld's Vega expedition, the first successful attempt to navigate the Northeast Passage.

Sibiryakov Island

Sibiryakov financed explorations to Siberia, such as Nordenskiöld's, and also took part in some expeditions of his own.


Carmacks, Yukon
