Aeronauticum is the official German maritime aircraft museum - located in Nordholz (close to Cuxhaven).
Although northwest Germany was to become a British occupation zone, an exclave was granted to the US Army in the area between Bremen and Nordholz.
Defences at the other bases were improved and at Nordholz a swathe of the countryside near the local airbase was burned off so as to prevent it being set alight by enemy bombs.
A year later the subhunting component of MFG 2 moved from Westerland on Sylt to Nordholz.
