The name of the district is derived from the Nork neighbourhood of Yerevan and the ancient major Armenian settlement of Marash in modern-day Turkish Republic.

The A2022 becomes Fir Tree Road and heads west, passes within 50m of Banstead railway station in the Nork locality westwards; then it stops at the crossroads by the Drift Bridge, 500m short of Epsom Downs railway station, where it co-runs with the A240 and faces the B291 (also Fir Tree Road).
Prior to the success of The Voodoo Trombone Quartet, Thorpe was singer in Loveblobs signed to Wiiija Records and Nork Law, releasing a single on Oxford’s Shifty Disco and recording material for Eastwest Records.
Alongside with existing literary magazines and newspapers (Grakan Tert, Nork, Nor dar, Literaturnaya Armenia) 'Artasahmanyan Grakanutyun magazine, Satirikon (a humorous newspaper), Tsolker and Lusapsak young people's magazines are being published.
