Even before graduating from Clovis High, Jerry was recording at the famed Norman Petty Studios, a foreshadow of his career to come.
In his homespun studio, he produced successful singles for his own musical group and for Texas musicians Roy Orbison, Buddy Knox, Waylon Jennings, Charlie "Sugartime" Phillips, Sonny West, Carolyn Hester, Terry Noland and Buddy Holly.
He toured for two years from 1994-1996 with the highly successful nationally touring musical production of The Buddy Holly Story playing Norman Petty and Jack Daw, he also played parts in The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, Rhinoceros! and Hard Times.
