More centrally, a minor road departs from the A170 at Keldholme and passes through Castleton before joining the A171 which connects Whitby and Guisborough.

Ballistic missile air raid warnings for the UK would have originated from the shared UK/USA Ballistic Missile Early Warning System in England, (the site is now upgraded and still operational at RAF Fylingdales, on the North York Moors) and disseminated through UKRAOC to the carrier warning system.


Cockayne, North Yorkshire

It is the largest settlement in the civil parish of Bransdale, in the North York Moors national park, near the village of Chop Gate (3 miles, 5 km as the crow flies, though much further by road.)
