Norwich City F.C. in European football

Norwich's first taste of European competition was in the Texaco Cup in the 1972–73 season.

After being beaten finalists the previous year, Norwich had a second go at the Texaco Cup in the 1973–74 season.


1981 New Zealand National Soccer League

As with Eastern Suburbs in 1978 the team bolstered its ranks from England, bringing in Peter Mendham from Norwich City, and his six-match stint with Miramar saw them briefly enter the upper half of the table.

1981–82 Football League

They were joined by Norwich City and Watford, owned by Elton John and managed by Graham Taylor, who would begin 1982–83 as First Division members for the first time in their history.

1994 in England

13 July – Chris Sutton, 21-year-old Norwich City striker, becomes Britain's most expensive footballer in a £5million move to Blackburn Rovers.

Al Saunders

Saunders was born in the north London suburb of Hendon as part of a sporting family; his great-uncle, Ron Saunders, played soccer for a number of teams in The Football League and later became a manager, winning honours with Norwich City and Aston Villa.

Alexander Banor Tettey (born 4 April 1986) is a Norwegian footballer who plays as a midfielder for English Premier League club Norwich City.

Coventry City F.C. in European football

It saw Coventry pitted with 1986–87 Scottish Cup winners St. Mirren, however poor attendances at the first leg (a 1–1 draw at Highfield Road) meant that the revival was halted, and the second leg was never played.

Coventry entered the Texaco Cup for the first time in 1971–72 and faced Falkirk in the first round, and needed extra time to beat them, to set up a tie with Newcastle United.

David Geddis

When Ipswich Town's leading goal scorer, Trevor Whymark, was injured against Norwich City on Boxing Day 1977, Geddis replaced him in the line-up and remained in the side.

Ken Hollyman

He played in more than eighty wartime matches, serving with the Fleet Air Arm during the war, for the club before eventually making his league debut against Norwich City on the opening day of the 1946-47 season, the first season of league football following the end of World War II.

They went to Anfield to play the last match against Liverpool and in order to progress they had either not to lose, or to score and not lose by more than one goal difference.

William Jex

William Jex (23 March 1885 − 19 February 1934) was an English footballer who played as an inside left with Norwich City, Doncaster Rovers, Rotherham Town and Croydon Common, and in the Football League with Gainsborough Trinity in the early 20th century.
