Novar Controls - a subsidiary of Honeywell, and former subsidiary of Novar plc.

Novar plc - the international conglomerate based in the United Kingdom, that was formerly Metal Box, MB Group, MB-Caradon and Caradon plc, and was acquired in 2005 by Honeywell.


Hugh Andrew Johnstone Munro of Novar

On his father's death in 1809 he became the head of the Munros of Novar and succeeded to the estate of Novar House in Ross-shire.

H.A.J. Munro of Novar was born in London, the nephew of Hector Munro, 8th of Novar, and the son of Sir Alexander Munro (d. 1809).

In 1921, the area, which also included that part of Cummins Estate where Cummins House is located, was renamed to Novar Gardens to honour Viscount Novar, (who as Sir Ronald Munro Ferguson was the sixth Governor-General of Australia from 1914 to 1920).

Novar House

Novar Estate extends to 20,000 acres (80 kmĀ²) between the Allt Graad and the River Alness and incorporates farming, forestry, open hill, traditional country sports, fishing, over 150 miles of paths and tracks, a hydroelectric scheme and the first wind farm in the Highlands.

The eastern lands of Fyrish were added to the Novar estate when they were passed from the Munro of Culrain family to the Munro of Novar family during the 18th century, thus the Novar lands becoming even larger.

At the time the Novar lands covered one quarter of the lands known as Fyrish.
