Alas the Madonna Does Not Function is a 12" EP by Nurse with Wound.
Inspired by Nurse with Wound's debut album, the band included a list of five-hundred and ninety-seven bands that they deemed important on the inside of the CD's booklet.

The aesthetic focus of the label is psychedelic and experimental music with a global roster of artists representing these genres including Legendary Pink Dots (including solo work by members of the band such as Edward Ka-spel), Nurse With Wound, Current 93, Green Milk from the Planet Orange, LSD March, Volcano The Bear, Daniel Menche, Eyeless in Gaza, and Vas Deferens Organization.
In addition, Bennett began to release albums by other controversial or extreme groups, including Sutcliffe Jugend, Maurizio Bianchi, Nurse With Wound and even Charles Manson.
She contributed backing or lead vocals for Coil, Current 93, Death in June, Felt, Alex Fergusson, Into A Circle, Megas, Nature and Organisation, Nurse With Wound, Ornamental, Psychic TV and Boyd Rice on recordings as well as singing or playing guitar for live appearances.
Scrodd's first album, The Inevitable Chrystal Belle Scrodd Record, was released on the United Dairies Label in 1985 and featured contributions from Steven Stapleton of Nurse With Wound, Robert Haigh and Karl Blake, among others.
Steven Stapleton of Nurse with Wound also did the artwork for the album, and was sufficiently impressed by David Jackman's track that he invited him to collaborate on a series of music projects.
