Oñate is an older spelling of Oñati, a town in Gipuzkoa, Spain
Above the city lies the Sanctuary of Arantzazu, which is known for its Pilgrimage Church of Our Lady.
On 23 December 1988, the RCSL signed an agreement with Government of the Basque Country creating the International Institute for the Sociology of Law in Oñati which is located in the province of Guipúzcoa in the Basque Country in the north of Spain.
In 1999/2000 and again in 2000/2001, she taught a course on "Gender, Colour and Legal Norms" in the Masters Program at the International Institute for the Sociology of Law in Onati, Spain.
