Odyssey of the Mind

The name comes from an insect, the Ranatra fusca, which lives underwater and served as the inspiration for a particularly creative, but unsuccessful, solution to a problem in the early days of the program.

Ong Teck Chin

The school received many other awards, such as the School Excellence Award (an award for academic excellence), the School Distinction Award, the Best Practice Awards and many awards at the Odyssey of the Mind (OM) World Finals.

Ranatra fusca

"Ranatra fusca" is the namesake of an award for exemplary creativity in the international student problem solving competition Odyssey of the Mind, because the insect served as the inspiration for a particularly creative solution to a problem in the early days of the program.


Cane Creek Middle School
