Olaf Helmer

Helmer moved to the United States in 1937, first working as a research assistant to Rudolf Carnap at the University of Chicago, then as a teacher of mathematics.

He earned his doctorate there in 1934, under direction from philosopher Hans Reichenbach.


Berlin Circle

A younger member of the Berlin Circle or Berlin School to leave Germany was Olaf Helmer who joined the RAND Corporation and played an important role in the development of the Delphi method used for predicting future trends, and other early forms of Social Technology.
