"Moonlight Shadow" - the working title of a song by British musician Mike Oldfield
Mike Oldfield - A Life Dedicated To Music (ISBN 978-1-906385-35-4) is a biography of Mike Oldfield published in May 2013 by Brimstone Press.
No list of musicians appears on the cover, but the song is believed to have been played by Mike Oldfield on vocals, guitars, mandolin, probably bass guitar, and possibly piano (or the latter may have been played by David Bedford), Vanessa Branson on vocals, Lol Coxhill on saxophone, and an unknown drummer.

"Mike Oldfield's Single" is the debut authorised single by musician Mike Oldfield, released in 1974 (See 1974 in music).
In the late 1980s, Oldfield turned professional, performing as an opening act for the Macclesfield-based bands The Screaming Beavers and The Macc Lads.
The single featured two of Oldfield's previous singles, "Portsmouth" and "In Dulci Jubilo", along with the finale from Tubular Bells, "The Sailor's Hornpipe", and a new track, "Wrekorder Wrondo" that may be based on the song "Cum decore" by Tielman Susato.
The Orchestral Tubular Bells was not the only Mike Oldfield album that was orchestrated at the time, David Bedford also wrote the score for Oldfield's second album, Hergest Ridge.

Oldfield later added his playing to the album by overdubbing his acoustic guitar at Worcester Cathedral.
Following this tour Oldfield did not perform until the premiere of his next Tubular Bells album, Tubular Bells III.
The very distinct similarity of "Man in the Rain" to the hit "Moonlight Shadow" was sometimes interpreted as Oldfield trying to retread old ground.
The release came days after Oldfield's performance at the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony.
