June 9 – The democracy of Athens is overthrown by the oligarchic extremists, Antiphon, Theramenes, Peisander and Phrynichus in an effort by the oligarcists to exert more control over the conduct of the war with Sparta and its allies.
They were at the centre of Amsterdam oligarchy from the begin of the 17th century until the early 1650s.
They also came across several members of the country's new oligarchy, including Roman Abramovich, now owner of Chelsea F.C.
He was born in San Miguel de Tucumán to a family with connections to the Tucumanian oligarchy, and studied under Amédée Jacques at the Colegio San Miguel.
The EPP criticized the government of Fernando Lugo, saying that he represents the oligarchy, ignores the country's social problems and offers no real land reform.
This perceived lack of capacity for reform helped to bring about the attempted revolution of 1785 and the successful revolution of 1795 that eventually helped replace the regent-oligarchy with a short-lived democracy in the first years of the Batavian Republic.
