The Ontario Heritage Act was created in 1975 was further amended in 1990, 2002, 2005 and as of 2009 as undergone further amendments.
On August 19, 1982, it was designated as a historic place under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act (By-law 2225) and given Municipal ID (IDM) number 10817.
