The original version of Psiphon (1.0) was written in 2004 by two researchers at the Citizen Lab (Nart Villeneuve and Michelle Levesque) as part of work undertaken by the Open Net Initiative.
Among the speakers were Jimmy Wales, co-founder of Wikipedia and Jonathan Zittrain, one of the principal investigators of the Open Net Initiative.
