Poland later annexed further territories in northern Slovakia (on December 1, 1938, villages in Kysuce, Orava a Spiš) comprising 226 km², with 4,280 inhabitants.
On Slovak side there is a field altar, founded by residents of the Orava village of Mutne.

Dubova Colonorum is a volunteer camp aiming to restore the ruins of a medieval church dedicated to Sts. Cosmas and Damian, near Sedliacka Dubová in Orava region of Slovakia.
On the 26 April 1585, György's mother died and he was forced to return to Nagybiccse to take care of his estates of Árva (now Orava, Slovakia), Zsolnalitva (now Lietava Slovakia) and Nagybiccse.
The Historical Logging Switchback Railway in Vychylovka (near Nová Bystrica, Slovakia) is preserved section technically most interesting part of the former narrow-gauge zig zag logging railway located in Kysuce and Orava region.
Besides that SOS/BirdLife Slovakia in last years leased more than 150 ha of taiga forest in Northern Slovakia in IBA/SPA Horná Orava, which is important site for breeding of Black Stork.
Current environmental threats include: the proximity of the fast-developing town of Zakopane; and air pollution from the industrial zones in Kraków, Ostrava, and Orava.
