Doctor Orvan Hess – developed the fetal heart monitor after the war
He is survived by two daughters, Dr. Katherine Halloran of Lexington, and Carolyn Westerfield of Hamden; five grandchildren (including Peter Halloran); and five great-granddaughters.
Halloran's maternal grandfather was Orvan Hess, a noted physician and recipient of the AMA Scientific Achievement Award for his work with penicillin and development of the fetal heart monitor.
