Rabí Castle

Rabí or Rábí is ruined castle in Southwestern Bohemia (Plzeň Region), situated on a prominent hill by the central course of the River Otava, in the foothills of Šumava region, 130 km from Prague, Czech Republic.

It is likely that the Lords of Velhartice established it after 1300 to protect trade routes along the Otava and also to inspect gold-bearing deposits in it.

On the 25 August 2011 it was announced that Rautakirja will sell the Suomalainen Kirjakauppa segment of its business to Otava for in excess of 27 million euro.


Putim

Several times in the historical past (e.g. in 1650 and 1704) the whole village was destroyed by fire, and two nearby rivers, the Blanice and the Otava, also caused frequent floodings.
