The station was opened in 1896 when the Dovre Line was extended from Tretten to Otta.
In 1945 he moved beyond farm and garden labor and became a journalist with the ‘’Dølenes Blad’’ just down the valley in Otta.
It then exits the Vågåvatn at Vågåmo and continues its journey through the Ottadal leaving Vågå municipality to meet the Gudbrandsdalslågen river at the town of Otta in Sel municipality.
