Palak is the largest union council of the Circle Bakote area - as part of the local government reforms of 2000 Malkot Union Council was merged into Palak.

It forms part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border with Punjab province and Kashmir, and it also borders the following Union Councils within Abbottabad district, Seer Gharbi to the west, Nathiagali to the North and Malkot to the north west.

Tajwal is located in the south of the district and is in the north western part of Havelian Tehsil, it is bounded by the following union councils, Nathia Gali to the north, Palak to the east, Seer Gharbi and Nara to the south, as well as Dewal Manal and Nara to the west.
