Born in Palanga, Lithuania, Andrew's immigrated with his parents to the United States in 1947.

Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė

In 1899 Petkevičaitė co-directed with Višinskis the first Lithuanian-language play Amerika pirtyje (America in a Bathhouse) in Palanga.

Jonas Žemaitis

Jonas Žemaitis (also known under his codename Vytautas; March 15, 1909 in Palanga – November 26, 1954 in Moscow) was one of the leaders of armed resistance against the Soviet occupation in Lithuania and acknowledged as the Head of State of contemporary occupied Lithuania.

Their adversaries were unable to achieve their goal of capturing the Lithuanian sea-coast from Klaipėda to Šventoji.

Not far from Šventoji, archaeologists discovered an encampment which indicates that the area was inhabited some 5,000 years ago.
