Palestinian Prisoners Club is an independent, non-governmental, Palestinian organization which was established in 1993 with around 1,600 members of former Palestinian prisoners who were at least a year in an Israeli jail.
Qadura Fares of the Palestinian Prisoners' Society stated the group was against deportation but the decision was ultimately with Shalabi.
The group demanded the release of Palestinian prisoners it claimed were being held in Britain, accused of killing Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali in 1987; in fact, no-one linked to the murder was being held by UK authorities.
