After coming overground, Bijoy said that "he will never leave the principles and ideology taught by Paresh Baruah" and "he fully support Paresh Baruah and his ideals only".
He openly criticised the policies of the central leadership of ULFA and posed a potential threat to Paresh Baruah, the C-in-C of the outfit.
However, Bijoy Chinese, a close confidant of Paresh Baruah and Sujit Moran, the ‘B’ company commander, distanced themselves from the pro-ceasefire group.

Paresh Baruah, the commander-in-chief of the armed wing of the outfit, reportedly said, ‘‘We will be compelled to call off the peace initiative because of the state’s attitude. While we took a major step by forming a PCG to work out the modalities of the talks with the government, what the state has done is nothing but sheer betrayal’’.
