Although many residents of Newbank would consider themselves residents of Parkhead or Tollcross, they have been officially placed within the Braidfauld Ward of Glasgow City Council.
Originally titled Für Sadie, because Hind was influenced by Beethoven's piece Für Elise, but the umlaut was later dropped to reflect Glasgow dialect, the story tells of Sadie, a housewife in the Parkhead district of Glasgow who rediscovers her childhood love for the piano as a means of escaping her middle-aged misery.
It is bounded by the Clyde to the south and east, Parkhead to the north, and Bridgeton at Dunn Street to the north west.
In 2009, Celtic were drawn with Rapid Vienna of Austria in a Europa League (formerly UEFA Cup) tie – 25 years after a controversial Cup Winners' Cup game at Parkhead when a Rapid Vienna player claimed to have been hit by a bottle thrown by a Celtic fan.

During 1999–2000 Gould generally remained the first-choice goalkeeper at Parkhead despite the arrival of Dmitri Kharine, and picked up another Scottish League Cup winner's medal when Celtic defeated Aberdeen 2-0 in the final on 19 March 2000.
Newbank is a working-class district in the East End of Glasgow, near the home ground of Glasgow Celtic F.C. It sits just north of the River Clyde, adjacent to Parkhead, and is bounded to the south by London Road.
