On February 15, 2006, Judge stepped down as a candidate for Governor of Iowa, announced her endorsement of Iowa Secretary of State Chet Culver for the office, and became his running mate as Lt. Governor.
Previously, the seat had been held by Judge's wife, Patty Judge, who was elected to be the Iowa Secretary of Agriculture before assuming her current role as Lieutenant Governor of Iowa.
