In the Lombard capital the private clientele, wider and more stimulating than the one in Rome, lead with to dedicate himself to portrait painting, especially of Giuseppe Bossi and Andrea Appiani; the public commissions asserted him as the portrayer of the protagonists of the Restoration.
Under the patronage in Rome of cardinal Bernardino Honorati, he was influenced by Camuccini, Pelagio Palagi, Felice Giani, and Bartolomeo Pinelli.
Trained in Rome under the guidance of the landscape painter Luigi Campovecchio from Mantua, Ronzoni met Angelica Kauffman and Antonio Canova and formed friendships with numerous artists, including Pelagio Palagi, Martin Verstappen and Hendrik Voogd.
