2 unusual facts about Pentax

Pentax

Some Pentax lenses are also rebranded and sold as Samsung Schneider Kreuznach D-Xenon and D-Xenogon lenses for Samsung DSLRs.

The name "Pentax" was originally a registered trademark of the East German VEB Zeiss Ikon (from "Pentaprism" and "Contax") but, as all Germans patents were annulled with the country's defeat, the name "Pentax" was taken by the Asahi Optical company in 1957.

Endomicroscopy

Two endomicroscope products have been developed: the Pentax ISC-1000/EC3870CIK (Pentax/Hoya, Tokyo, Japan), now withdrawn from some markets, and Cellvizio (Mauna Kea Technologies, Paris, France).

Fletcher O'Leary

Fletcher says he enjoys "skateboarding, jumping on the trampoline and playing chasy" as well as visiting the beach, taking photos (he is learning to use an old Pentax), the High School Musical movies and going to watch Carlton football matches with his father and brother.

Image file formats

Adobe's Digital Negative (DNG) specification is an attempt at standardizing a raw image format to be used by cameras, or for archival storage of image data converted from undocumented raw image formats, and is used by several niche and minority camera manufacturers including Pentax, Leica, and Samsung.
