She is still today a "household name" in the west of Scotland; in the mountain glens and moors of Ayrshire and Galloway and the Pentlands, chapbooks still tell her marvellous story of courage and devoutness.

Blackford Hill is formed from Lower Devonian volcanic rocks, lying between Upper Devonian sandstone, the northernmost extent of those found in the Pentland Hills to the South.
The township also contains the smaller communities of Aboyne, Alma, Belwood, Dracon, Ennotville, Inverhaugh, Living Springs, Oustic, Pentland Corners, Salem, Shiloh, Simpson Corners, Speedside and Spier, and the ghost town of Ponsonby.
Pentland United won the final in 2008 beating fellow Caithness team Castletown 3–0.
