With the support of (then) club supremo, Peter Bullfrog Moore, Imanaga and Ojima played regular games for Moorebank, Canterbury's feeder club, then coached by Kevin Moore.

McCracken was playing his football in Port Macquarie on the NSW mid-north coast when he was spotted by Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Chief Executive Peter Moore who persuaded the young Centre to join The Bulldogs in 1991 and stayed with the club until 1995, although he also spent the 1992/93 English season with St. Helens.

Moore had been actively involved in supporting Super League, and in securing the signature of the Canterbury-Bankstown coach (his son-in-law, Chris Anderson) to a Super League contract.

The National Rugby League decided that the Dally M Rookie of the Year award would be named in his honour.

His first signing for the Bulldogs was New Zealand international Bill Noonan.
