On May 29, 1942, after stopping in Tealing, Prestwick, Reykjavík, and Goose Bay, the Petlyakov Pe-8 plane with the Soviet delegation on board landed in Washington.
He tested PE-2 and SB bombers, as well as participated in tests of a DB-A bomber.
For a short period of time the 26th Independent Reconnaissance Air Regiment flying the Petlyakov Pe-2 was also based at Graf Ignatievo airfield.
