In September 2013, Alex and former bandmate Jose Pasillas II (current drummer and founder member of Incubus), along with former Pharcyde MC Slimkid3 and Jurassic 5’s DJ Nu-Mark, released a new song and music video titled "Picture Perfect Phantasy" inspired by Ubisoft’s ‘Rayman Legends’ video game.
Welch has stated that one of the original influences for the film was Arnold Böcklin's painting Isle of the Dead as well as Norman McLaren's 1946 NFB animated short A Little Phantasy on a 19th-century Painting, which incorporates the Böcklin work.
