The Battle of Pharos was a naval battle between the Greek colony Pharos allied with Dionysius the Elder of Syracuse and the Illyrian Liburnians, which took place in 383/4 BC.The Illyrians of Zadar, the Iadasinoi, became allies of the natives of Hvar and the leaders of an eastern Adriatic coast coalition in the fight against the Greek colonizers.
The name Pharo may be a reference to the famous Pharos lighthouse in ancient Alexandria.

Ballaios' coins were in circulation in the regions along both Adriatic coasts; along the eastern Adriatic, they have been found in a broad area extending from Phoenice in Epirus to Shkodër, in present day Albania, to Pharos, and along the western Adriatic from Leuca and Locri to Aquileia, indicating trade activity of Ballaios that was no longer controlled by Issa.
