His next major appearance on record wasn't until 1998, with Pheeroan akLaff and Michael Logan; the following year, he played with many AACM ensemble members on the album Bright Moments.
Later developed a longstanding association with Oliver Lake, which included writing for their fusion ensemble, Jump Up.
Since the late 1980s Yamashita's main group has consisted of Cecil McBee (bass), Pheeroan akLaff (drums), and often Joe Lovano (saxophone).
The album and features five of Threadgill's compositions (six on CD) and one by Olu Dara performed by Threadgill with Frank Lacy, Rasul Siddik, Fred Hopkins, Diedre Murray, Pheeroan akLaff and Reggie Nicholson with guest vocalist Asha Puthli credited as Aisha Putli added on one track.
