Various celebrities, including Phillipa Forrester, Rik Mayall and the late Keith Floyd, have publicly supported the campaign, with both Mayall and Floyd appearing in television adverts.
The prototype cleaner was first seen on the BBC television programme, "Tomorrow's World", in 1996; when it was demonstrated by presenter Philippa Forrester.
She took over the role from Philippa Forrester since Forrester was unable to participate in the programme due to pregnancy.
The magazine was set up to report live from the Annual Festival of Science held at University of Birmingham and reporters included Vivienne Parry, Philippa Forrester and Craig Doyle.

The series continued as a 5 to 15min filler shown during school holidays and Sunday mornings on CBBC throughout the year by CBBC presenters Andi Peters, Philippa Forrester, Toby Anstis and Zoë Ball by 1992.
