Tebb's novel Pitfall Street chronicles his upbringing in 40s working class Leeds (where Peter O'Toole, Richard Hoggart, Tony Harrison, Keith Waterhouse also grew up)and gives a hilarious account of the many Gregory Fellows in Poetry at Leeds University he knew well, especially Peter Redgrove and Jon Silkin.
But 1948 saw him step out of the brutish type when he starred in Pitfall, a film noir that sees a bored insurance company worker fall for an innocent but dangerous woman, played by Lizabeth Scott.
The film was a collaboration with the author of Pitfall,Kōbō Abe.
One of the most distinctive features of this game is the voice of Bruce Campbell as Pitfall Harry Jr and Catherine Sutherland as Mira.
