In 1950, he accompanied Stryker to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and assisted him as head of the photographic department at the Pittsburgh Photographic Library.
From 1950 to 1952, Stryker worked to establish the Pittsburgh Photographic Library (PPL).
In 1983 Plattner went on to study Stryker's Pittsburgh Photographic Library project, which followed the Standard Oil project from 1950-1953.
