The first mention of the surname comes from 16th century Polish genealogy books as a name of an old Lithuanian family Połoński that belonged to Leliwa coat of arms.
In 1971 the Arts Council of Great Britain released a short film, "Rolanda Polonsky, Sculptor".
Born in Moscow in 1958 as Piotr Polonsky, was fond of math and took prizes in regional Olympiads.
