Born at Pryluky, in the province of Poltava (modern-day Ukraine), Joachim Gorlenko was the son of Colonel Andrei Dmitrievich Gorlenko of the Pryluky Regiment by his marriage to Maria Danylovna, a daughter of Danylo Apostol (1654–1734), a significant military leader and Hetman of the Cossack Hetmanate from 1727 until his death.

Mikhail Stakhurskii

After the war, from 1945 to 1961, he served as the First Secretary of four regional party committees, including three in Ukraine (Vinnytsia Oblast from 1945–1951, Poltava Oblast from 1951–1955, and Zhytomyr Oblast from 1957–1961) and one in Russia (Khabarovsk Krai from 1955–1957).

Volodymyr Antonovych

His wife was Kateryna Mykolaivna Antonovych-Melnyk (Dec. 2, 1859 - Jan. 12, 1942) who was a Ukrainian historian and archeologist from the city of Khorol (today - Poltava Oblast).
