4 unusual facts about Polyarny


November-class submarine

There are plans to convert the first submarine of the class (K-3) into a museum ship in St. Petersburg, but the hulk of submarine remains in Polyarny due to economic reasons and the environmental concerns of some ecological organizations.

Between 3 and 6 September 2006 the submarine was transported by heavy lift ship Transshelf (belonged to Dutch Dockwise Shipping B.V. company) to Dockyard No. 10 (SRZ-10) in Polyarny for further scrapping.
