Finally, the text of the Anaphora assumes it is to be said by a Bishop; in the Early Church each congregation was presided over by a Bishop, whose duties included the normal celebration of the Eucharist; later, this function in most parishes was delegated to Presbyters and special rubrics developed for services celebrated by a Bishop, which came to be known in the East as Hierarchical Divine Liturgies, and in the Roman church, as the Pontifical High Mass.
A Pontifical Mass followed, celebrated by Father Joseph H. Conroy, with a crowd of nearly 4,000 people.
The archbishop of Paris, Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, celebrated Pontifical High Mass in the presence of many French and German bishops, and of René Monory, President of the French Senate and of Helmut Kohl, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, who, beforehand, had laid down a wreath on Stock's grave.
A Pontifical High Mass was offered in her honor at the Binondo Church in Binondo, Manila followed by a musical concert featuring the works of the National Artist Lucio San Pedro.
